SCOTT XTRAILS FRANCE – VOSGES

The Scott Xtrails France “Mountain Edition” in the French Vosges will be held for a 3th time during the weekend of April 27 & 28, 2019. You can register for the entire multistage Xtrails Vosges or only for one of the trails: Trail du Markstein and/or Trail Du Grand Ballon. The start wille be at Hotel Wolf in Le Markstein with a beautiful view over the Vosges!

Start and finish area are located in Le Markstein. It’s easy to get there by car.
The nearest airport is in Genève, Lyon and Basel.
The nearest train station is in Colmar and/or Mulhouse.

Important : The “Route des Crêtes” is certainly still closed at that time.
You can access the Markstein by the road from the Lake Kruth – Wildenstein (D27) or by the Guebwiller valley via the D430.

PARKING

There is no specific parking space provided. There will be enough parking available in Le Markstein.

AID STATIONS

Along the trail, aid stations with water, sports-drinks, coke, fruit, cake, crackers etc. are available. For the location of the aid stations see ‘course information’ above.

NO PLASTIC

There are NO plastic cups at the aid station. Each runner has to carry his/her own reusable cup or drinking system.

PERSONAL AID

Participants of the 48km and 70km can get a numbered bag for personal aid at the secretariat. On Saturday morning you can drop this bag at “La Bulle”, right in front of the hotel. The drop bags will be available at aid station “Auberge Steinlebach“.

After the trail, the drop bag can be collected from this aid station by showing your bib number. This aid station is located at 1km from the start and finish.

WASTE

We ask all participants to respect the natural environment and not litter. If you fail to do so, you will be disqualified.

PODIUM

Overall podia for the first three men and women at every distance of the Trail du Markstein and Trail du Grand Ballon.

For the Xtrails there is only an overall podium for the competition distance 3/16/32km.

LIVE

During the race, supporters can follow the runners using our live tracking, which will be visible in a banner on the top of this page. There will be several check points along the course.

RESULTS

The results will be LIVE available during the race. You can these results in the green bar at the top of this page. By clicking on the asterisk behind the name of an athlete, you can easily follow him/her during the race.

RACERESULT

Your (interim) times are recorded when you pass a timing point (mat or antenna). Always carry your number (with chip) above your clothes. No panic if not every timing point beeps, that’s normal. You can follow the results live via the website.

INSURANCE

Participants are not automatically insured for physical accidents. During the registration an insurance physical accidents can be bought for 2 euros. The organization is not responsible for damage, loss and/or theft of personal items of the participant before, during and after the matches.

T-SHIRT

During the registration, a unique Trail du Grand Ballon coolmax T-shirt can be purchased at an extra price of 10 euros. Those who do not purchase a T-shirt will receive a free buff.

GPX

The GPX files will be available for downloading one week before the event through Trace de Trail. Before and after this period the files cannot be downloaded.

SHOWERS

Showers are free available in Auberge Steinlebach at 1km from the start and finish zone.

MEDAL

All finishers of the Trail du Grand Ballon 70km and 48km will receive a unique Grand Ballon finishers medal at the finish.

BAGGAGE DROP

On Saturday and Sunday you can hand off your sports bag to the “baggage drop” stand. Loose clothing or plastic bags are not accepted. So make sure you bring a well-closing (sports) bag to put your stuff in.

DOGS

Dogs are not allowed on the course as some parts are located in a natura2000 zone where it is strictly forbidden for dogs. Forest rangers will give you a fine of 150 euro !

ACCOMODATION

POLES

Trekking poles are permitted during this race. Please make sure not to hinder other participants with them.

UTMB POINTS

With this race you can earn UTMB points. These points may be necessary to qualify for some races, such as the UTMB.

For the Trail du Grand Ballon 22km there is 1 UTMB point to earn, for the Trail du Grand Ballon 32km and 48km 2 UTMB points and for the Trail du Grand Ballon 70km you will earn 3 UTMB qualification points.

MANDATORY KIT

Mandatory kit: a working phone, at least half a litre of water and a raincoat in case of bad weather.

MEDICAL

In France a medical certificate is mandatory when participating in sport events. Please present a copy when you pick up your race number
